Born in Hyderabad, Pakistan, Fatima Jamil is known for her digital collages which are also often hand painted. She earned a her B.F.A. in 1997 from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, Pakistan and received her M.F.A. at the California State University, Fullerton in 2010. Over the two decades, Jamil's work has continually evolved in techniques and pictorial language. She got her training in classical realism exploring mediums such as; printmaking, oils, sculpture, and photography which have expanded towards digital painted collages, sound art, film and moving images.
In the recent years Jamil’s work has started receiving international recognition and her digital mixed media painting 'The Meeting' was awarded the Lorenzo IL Magnifico award in New Media at the Florence Biennale in 2021.
Jamil's works are in the permanent collection at the University of Wyoming Art Museum and at the University of Michigan Museum of Art.
